Our Story
We are a church family in Pontprennau and Pentwyn, united by what Jesus has done, and committed to making and maturing followers of Jesus in Cardiff and beyond.
Beginnings
In September 2011, a small group of adults and children from Highfields Church began meeting to pray and prepare for a new satellite congregation in Pontprennau and Pentwyn.
A few months later, in January 2012, around 25 adults and 3 children started gathering on Sundays at Corpus Christi High School. Many lived locally and shared a deep desire to see our community come to know the good news about Jesus, and to join together in sharing that good news in everyday life. It has always been about making and maturing followers of Jesus.
Today
Since those early days, the church has grown, and moved venues a few times along the way. We’re now a large family of people from many backgrounds, and at different stages of life. On 6 January 2019, we became an independent church, committed to working hard for the fame of Jesus’ name in Cardiff and beyond.
Though different in many ways, we are united by Jesus’ work in our lives, and a shared mission to make him known. That conviction shapes how we “do church” together.
Our values
BELONG – We want people to belong
We’re a family, together for Jesus and the Gospel. When people meet us, we want them to feel warmly welcomed, not just by a community, but by a family. Our hope is that they come to belong to the family of God through faith, drawn by the unity and love they see among us.
Belonging grows through our Life Groups, the heartbeat of our church. In small groups, we invest in one another’s lives, encouraging, caring, and helping each other to serve and grow in faith.
SERVE – We exist to serve God, the church, and the world
We are saved to serve. We serve God in worship, one another in love and discipleship, and the world by sharing the good news of Jesus, and showing his compassion in practical ways.
Serving means offering everything we have: our time, talents, resources, and energy. Our great motivation is Jesus himself, the Servant King, who is both our example and our reward.
GROW – We long to see gospel, spiritual, and numerical growth
We want to see our church family grow as people respond to the good news of Jesus. That’s why we focus on sharing the gospel where we live, and in every area of life, being intentional about showing and sharing his love.
We long to see followers of Jesus press on in their faith, continually growing spiritually. We also pray for numerical growth, so that more people in our community might come to know Christ, and join his family.
